Robert Asprilla is the co-founder and serves as the Executive Director of the Afro-Latino Development Alliance, Inc. Mr. Asprilla was born in Colombia, South America, and he and his mother relocated to Washington D.C when he was eight years old.
In 1995, Mr. Asprilla established Moro Entertainment to celebrate Afro-Latin culture and to serve as a vehicle for creating dialogue between Africans in the Diaspora. Moro Entertainment became one of the premier companies to promote Afro-Latin culture.
In 1996, Mr. Asprilla began working with the Inter-American Development Bank on a project, entitled the “Alleviation of Poverty for Black Latin Americans.” During this initiative, he served as liaison for the leadership of the Afro-Latin community throughout the Americas and was responsible for successfully implementing project proposals within the community.
During the administration of President William Clinton, Mr. Asprilla served as Coordinator of the first Afro-Latin Briefing in the White House. He has also presented testimony at numerous Congressional hearings and panels on Africans in the Americas. Given his commitment to alleviating challenges in Afro-Latin communities, Mr. Asprilla has dedicated his life to providing opportunities for Afro-Latinos through working with Congressional staff and international governments. He has also delivered lectures at several colleges and universities, including Howard and Georgetown University.
