Lori S. Robinson
Lori S. Robinson is a journalist, public speaker and the author of “I Will Survive: The African-American Guide to Healing from Sexual Assault and Abuse.” She is currently the editor of African American Family, a lifestyle magazine in Detroit. And she is the founding editor of VidaAfroLatina.com, a digital news and opinion magazine.
Ms. Robinson’s freelance work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Detroit Free Press and Essence, among other publications. She has won several journalism awards. Her work has also been recognized by women’s organizations and service provider groups, including the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, the Black Church and Domestic Violence Institute and the International Black Women’s Congress. She has been interviewed about sexual violence by CBS Evening News, the Los Angeles Times, Houston Chronicle, Washington Post and numerous other media outlets.
Ms. Robinson earned a master’s degree in journalism from New York University. She graduated from Spelman College with a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish. She has traveled widely in Hispanophone and Lusophone countries, including her junior year spent studying in Spain, a National Press Foundation Spanish Language Fellowship in Mexico and a semester teaching media at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador.
